 CONFLICT DYNAMICS PROFILE (CDP)® CERTIFICATION
The Conflict Dynamics Profile, the result of extensive studies on the management of conflict in organizations, is the premier instrument internal and external consultants use to measure behavioral responses to workplace conflict. Working Dynamics offers periodic CDP Certification workshops and certifies individuals upon request, if they meet requirements set by the tool’s developers.
About the tool: The Conflict Dynamics Profile, an assessment instrument dealing with conflict behaviors in the workplace, provides a powerful way to improve self-awareness of what triggers conflict in individuals as well as how they respond to conflict. Two versions of the instrument — the CDP-Individual (CDP-I) and CDP-360 — provide practical solutions for promoting more effective conflict resolution. Based on these triggers and responses, the Conflict Dynamics Profile then provides practical approaches for improving behaviors that promote more effective workplace conflict resolution. The instrument was developed by psychologists working with the Leadership Development Institute at Eckerd College. It is used by the Center for Creative Leadership and other groups in leadership development, executive coaching, and conflict management programs. The instrument has been validated and the results published in the Journal of Educational and Psychological Measurement (August, 2004).
About CDP certification: Although the Conflict Dynamics Profile® Feedback Report is user-friendly, the feedback can be very powerful for some individuals. Since the role of the facilitator is important to the value of the feedback, the Center for Conflict Dynamics requires that the instrument be administered only by certified professionals. Susan Gunn of Working Dynamics was chosen to be a CDP Master Trainer in 2004 to certify internal and external consultants in the tool and join the Center’s Advisory Board in 2008. While telephone certification is available, we find learners often enjoy learning in-person with other professionals.
